About Saul Cosme

Saul Cosme is a Jazz guitar player, Composer and Music Educator born in Mexico city, based in New York since 2014.

He started playing guitar when he was 11 years old.

In Mexico he studied in Lafaro Jazz Institute where he played and learned from some of the best jazz musicians in Mexico such as Agustín Bernal, Hector Rodriguez, Gabriel Puentes, Roberto Verástegui, among others.

He has played in important scenarios, such as the Brazilian Cultural Center, “El Zocalo”, Museo Nacional, among other places.

Saul moved to New York to study Jazz Music at Purchase College in 2014 where he received the Joe Williams Scholarship, there he studied with the legendary musician John Abercrombie and Vic Juris and other important jazz musicians such as John Riley, Todd Coolman, Kenny Washington, Pete Malinverni, Doug Weiss, Jon Faddis and Andy Laverne.

In New York he has played in the most important jazz clubs in the world such as Blue Note, Birdland and Dizzy’s Club at Lincoln Center with different Jazz Orchestras led by Jon Faddis, Dr. Todd Coolman and David Dejesus.

 

In 2019 he released his Project Saul Cosme Quintet that combines Saul Cosme’s Mexican roots with the Jazz tradition and Latin music which is a result of living in two of the most active cities in the world, New York and Mexico City.
